DP/PA Development Kit

The PROFIBUS DP/PA Development Kit, part number 6ES7 195-3BA10-0YA0,for the DPC31 ASIC supports users in the development of PROFIBUS slaves.
PROFIBUS slaves with the following PROFIBUS technologies can be developed:


- PROFIBUS DP/DPV1 (RS-485 or Fiber Optic interface)
- PROFIBUS PA (MBP-IS = Manchester-encoded Bus-Powered, Intrinsically Safe)


The development board included in the DP/PA development kit in all cases utilizes the DPC31
for the PROFIBUS DP/DPV1 implementation and uses the following technologies for the various
demonstrated interfaces:


- Normal RS-485 driver chips for the RS-485 interface.
- SIM1 ASIC for the PROFIBUS-PA (MBP-IS) bus physics interface according to IEC 61158.
- FOCSI ASIC for the fiber optic interface.


The development kit contains:


- DPC31 development board to develop/test individual slave applications. The 3 different physical interfaces can be individually selected via jumpers.
- CP 5613 PCI bus card for the PROFIBUS master interface.
- Optical bus terminal to convert from copper cable to fiber optics.
- PROFIBUS DP cable, copper, purple.
- PROFIBUS DP Fiber Optic cable, plastic, pre-assembled.
- PROFIBUS PA cable, blue.
- Testing and simulation software for use on PCs under WinNT in conjunction with the CP 5613 PCI card.
- Program example, ANSI ¡°C¡±, for the DPC31 board.
- DPC31 original DP/DPV1 firmware, including development license.
- COM PROFIBUS configuration software for the CP 5613.
- PDM demonstration software (PDM = Process Device Manager) for PA operation.

PDM is a uniform tool for the configuration, parameterization, commissioning and diagnostics of intelligent process devices. The included PDM demo software is fully operational PDM software with a 2-month run-time limitation. After purchasing a license, the PDM software can be used with no restrictions.


All documentation is contained on the CD ROM in both English and German.
User telephone support by the PROFIBUS Interface Center is included in the price of the development package. The development package contains all the components (hardware, software and firmware) required for the development of a PROFIBUS slave with the DPC31 and SIM1 ASICs. The program examples are supplied in ¡°C¡± source code with comprehensive documentation. Similarly, the hardware design is documented by means of wiring diagrams and schematics.

If a PROFIBUS DP slave with an RS-485 interface is to be developed,the DPC31 board is connected directly to the PC master via the included copper PROFIBUS cable.

If a fiber optic interface is to be developed, the optical bus terminal(OBT) for the conversion from copper(PC port) to fiber optic can be used. The included FOC is connected to the fiber optic interface of the DPC31 board. If a PROFIBUS PA (MBP-IS) interface is to be developed, the DPC31 board must be connected via a DP/PA coupler. In this case the included PROFIBUS DP cable is connected to the DP/PA coupler and the included blue PROFIBUS PA cable connected between DP/PA coupler and PA interface of the DPC31 board. PROFIBUS PA devices can have parameter changes made while in operating mode with the PDM software supplied.

After installing the CP 5613 in a PCI slot of a PC and the installing the demonstration software under WIN NT(4.0), the PROFIBUS DP master is ready for use. An application example is stored in the firmware EPROM of the DPC31 board and will communicate with the master once it has been correctly wired for power. The functionality of the example can be varied with the PC software, e.g., by changing "limit values". A client can develop their own software and hardware based on this operational example. The CP 5613 and the PROFIBUS unit (with the DPC31 board) can be configured and parameterized with the COM PROFIBUS configuration tool.

Note: The PROFIBUS DP/PA coupler required for PROFIBUS PA aplications converts the PROFIBUS DP signals to PROFIBUS PA (MBP-IS) signals. It is not included in the package and must be ordered separately.
